Last Day

What did you learn about photography that you did not know before?
I learned how to see things a different way. For example, when I was walking around with or without my camera I saw things that I thought could possibly be a great photograph. I learned to look at things and maybe not photograph the beauty in it, but find a different way to photograph it or its surroundings. I learned that you need to take many photos to get the right one. I also found that trying to force photographs is the not the way to go. Be more spontaneous, and take many pictures until you find the right one.
What did you learn about yourself this semester?
I learned that the imperfections in photography are good and can be accepted.
What do wish we had done that we did not?
I like doing more landscapes, and I am not really fond of photographing people. I did not really enjoy the taking portraits aspect of the semester. As I said before, taking pictures of people is not really my favorite thing to do. I wish we had more projects of taking pictures of the outdoors, but I guess thats an excuse to do those things on my own.
What was your struggle?
Like I said earlier, I struggled with trying to force things and get a good product. I always thought well I have to do this by Tuesday so I'm going to have to just take pictures. I felt like some of the pictures that I took were not the best, because I was trying to get the project done.
What did you conquer?
I conquered my thought of thinking of a camera is only something I would use to go on vacation, and to take pictures of my family. I knew and saw many beautiful pictures, and never thought that I would be able to see the way photographers did. Though I was not pleased with the majority of my pictures, I think that this class is easing me into the thought and mindset of taking exceptional photos.
